Michael B. Banffy, M.D., is an Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in sports medicine and focusing on arthroscopic surgery and joint preservation of the hip, shoulder, knee and elbow. He is the current Director of the Kerlan Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic Sports Medicine Fellowship. He is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery within the Cedars Sinai Medical System. Dr. Banffy began his studies at the University of California, Berkeley before going on to medical school at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. He completed his general surgery internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital’s Department of Surgery, a flagship teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA and orthopedic surgery residency at the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program. Dr. Banffy went on to train as a Kerlan-Jobe Sports Medicine Fellow and is an active researcher and has published several papers and book chapters focusing on sports medicine injuries. Dr. Banffy is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, International Society for Hip Arthroscopy, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, California Orthopaedic Association, Arthroscopy Association of North America and International Cartilage Repair Society. Dr. Banffy is the team physician for the Los Angeles Rams, and Los Angeles Dodgers and has served as an assistant team physician and consultant for a variety of professional athletics, including the Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, USA Beach Volleyball and the PGA Tour.
